Flickering torches
make shadowdance
the darkness of treehollow,
a most welcome nightlight spirit, that soon splinters into gold-sprayed glitter as fireflies paint the lower charcoal sky above.
And now Moon, full of herself still, peeks out low and coy from behind some far branches, as if Norman's bright mother aloft at the Bates Motel.
Higher, stars are trying.
